Acts 2:1
”When the day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all together with one accord in one place and suddenly…”
Every student of life understands that nothing is really permanent. A person’s situation can change within minutes. This covid 19 poem below, entitled The irony of life captures it brilliantly:
”So suddenly:
New York city that never sleeps is now apsleep, all quiet
Paris the center of romance lives on echoes…
The developed world is suddenly on its knees…”
Make no mistake life can suddenly throw a shock at you; and the Bible gives us ample evidence of this fact.
— Job’s great wealth suddenly came tumbling down.
Just one east wind can end a lifetime of wealth acquisition. (Job 1:19)This should keep us humble.
— The 4 lepers at the gate of Samaria suddenly pounced upon great wealth. They had more than enough for themselves and for others. (2 Kings 7: 8)
— The otherwise fearful Apostles of our Lord suddenly became anointed after the day of Pentecost, with powerful signs and wonders following them (Acts 2).
This is why I am confident that a reader of today’s devotional is just about to receive a sudden divine surprise from heaven and also confident that this world is about to come to a sudden end.
The Bible says, ”when they shall say peace and safety, then sudden destruction will come upon them”
(1 Thess 5 :3)
In Jesus Name, I declare that no sudden evil shall befall you !
